SPEAK™ (Student Podcast Education & Knowledge) exists to ensure that every child, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance has the opportunity to discover the confidence to communicate, the courage to lead, and the character to serve.

SPEAK™ is an innovative communications and leadership program developed by Making Black History Today that empowers students to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and develop the critical thinking abilities needed to thrive in school, college, and beyond.

Using the engaging medium of podcasting, students learn far more than how to record a conversation. They discover how to ask meaningful questions, listen with intention, collaborate with peers, conduct research, organize ideas, tell compelling stories, and confidently communicate their perspectives.

Designed for students in Grades 3–12, SPEAK™combines literacy, public speaking, digital media, teamwork, and leadership into a hands-on learning experience that culminates in students producing and presenting their own podcast episodes.

Whether a student dreams of becoming a journalist, entrepreneur, educator, engineer, healthcare professional, or community leader, the ability to communicate effectively is one of the most valuable skills they can develop. SPEAK provides a creative and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to find and use their voice.
